A landscape of love

Sophie Shrestha's paintings are born from a love of the natural world and of her family, and the greater human family. She grew up immersed in the mystical, timeless beauty of Ireland, before falling in love with her husband Romio in the spiritual, mountain-lined world of Nepal. In experiencing that sense of oneness with the other, we feel the truth of our nature on this planet: we find ourselves in every leaf on every tree, in every blade of grass, and in every person we meet. She believes we must strive to maintain a harmonious, respectful and sustainable relationship with one another and with our planet. The earth is our mother and we are her children. Sophie's work is an invitation to remember the meaning of that relationship.

Sophie’s work blends the spiritual symbolism of the lived in landscapes she experienced with Romio in Nepal, with the soft light, shifting skies and grounded quiet of rural Ireland. Each canvas becomes a meeting point of oneness. She invites you to experience this oneness through the art.

Two Worlds, One Practice

Sophie and Romio welcome you to their studio in County Kerry, a sacred space where the essence of nature mirrors the essence of their art. Here, every drop of rain that falls on the MacGillycuddy's Reeks rushes down the Caragh River, into the lake, and loses itself in the ocean at Rossbeigh.
